Effective Polyakov line actions, and their solutions at finite chemical potential

Abstract: I outline recent progress in the relative weights approach to deriving effective Polyakov line actions from an underlying lattice gauge theory, and compare mean field and complex Langevin methods for solving such theories at finite chemical potential.
