Generation of $1/f$ noise motivated by a model for musical melodies

Abstract: We present a model to generate power spectrum noise with intensity proportional to 1/f as a function of frequency f. The model arises from a broken-symmetry variable which corresponds to absolute pitch, where fluctuations occur in an attempt to restore that symmetry, influenced by interactions in the creation of musical melodies.
