On Partial Coverage and Connectivity Relationship in Deterministic WSN Topologies
Abstract: The primary function of a sensor network is to perform the sensing task. For proper sensing, the coverage and connectivity property of the network must be maintained. Relationship between coverage and connectivity has been extensively investigated for full coverage scenarios. But, investing in full coverage incurs unnecessary cost when partial coverage is sufficient. In this work, we focus on the relationship between partial coverage and connectivity. We find the conditions when partial coverage implies connectivity as a function of coverage fraction. This condition facilitates the network designers to configure the connected network for desired coverage fraction.
