Some connections between classical and nonclassical symmetries of a partial differential equation and their applications

Published 5 Jan 2020 in math.AP, math-ph, and math.MP | (2001.01155v1)

Abstract: Some connections between classical and nonclassical symmetries of a partial differential equation (PDE) are given in terms of determining equations of the two symmetries. These connections provide additional information for determining nonclassical symmetry of a PDE and make it easier to solve the system of nonlinear determining equations. As example, new nonclassical symmetries are exhibited for a class of generalized Burgers equation and KdV-type equations are given.
