Adaptive shaping for generation of optical arbitrary waveform

Abstract: A new adaptive shaping method that can generate arbitrary optical waveforms with folded-type or fan-type birefringent variable shapers is proposed in this paper. Automatic arbitrary laser temporal shaping of picosecond and femtosecond lasers in shapers with material dispersion, nonidentical birefringent retarders are also studied and results are presented demonstrating the power of the method.
