Mathematical Analysis of Modified BEM-FEM Coupling Approach for 3D Electromagnetic Levitation Problem

Published 22 Aug 2021 in math.NA, cs.NA, cs.SY, and eess.SY | (2108.09632v1)

Abstract: In electromagnetic analysis, the finite element and boundary element methods jointly known as 'FEM-BEM coupling' is applied for numerically solving levitation problem based on eddy current. The main focus behind this coupled analysis method is to determine the dynamic characteristic of the levitating body in the presence of a magnetic field. An innovative 3D structure is developed that couples Lagrangian description and BEM-FEM coupling method for this purpose. The coupling methodology is based on the boundary conditions on the common boundaries between FEM and BEM sub-domains. Subsequent coding has been developed to simulate the problem in the MATLAB environment. An example similar to TEAM (Testing Electromagnetic Analysis Methods) workshop problem 28 has been used to study the efficiency of code for computationally inexpensive analysis.
