Bordism invariance of orientations and real APS index theory

Abstract: We show that orientations and Floer gradings for elliptic differential operators can be propagated through bordisms. This is based on a new perspective on APS indices for elliptic boundary value problems over the real numbers. Several applications to moduli spaces of this new bordism-theoretic point of view will be given in the sequel.
