Inverse risk calibration enables robust, data-driven adaptation and recovery of risk measures under population shift, latent preference identification, or evolving risk model requirements. Fundamental limitations arise from the order of approximation (e.g., Taylor expansion for odds-ratio), non-identifiability in extreme-tail distributions, and computational complexity in high-dimensional settings. Extending calibration algorithms to handle higher moment conditions, non-linear dependencies, and dynamic environments remains an active area of research. Specific methodological choices—such as the form of calibration variable, envelope geometry, or score function—must be tuned to problem structure for optimal reliability and efficiency.
