6. Design Guidelines and Open Challenges

Generalizable design principles for reader-oriented AI news systems include:

  • Embed AI-Ready Metadata: Data origin, frame, and impact tags must be systematically annotated by journalists to enable responsible agent inference (Zhang et al., 26 Jan 2026, Atreja et al., 2023).
  • Preserve Human Accountability: All AI-generated explanations, recommendations, or suggested actions require unambiguous disclaimers and—if relevant—pointers to qualified human advisors.
