Resolve the correct sample size for the still-air control experiment reported in JEB 1997 (Figures 3A and 3B)

Determine whether N=19 or N=35 is the correct sample size for the still-air control experiment reported in Srinivasan et al. (1997) Journal of Experimental Biology, Figures 3A and 3B, which both depict the same control experiment but report discrepant sample sizes, in order to reconcile the experimental record.

Background

The authors address discrepancies identified between figures in Srinivasan et al. (1996, 1997) regarding honeybee tunnel experiments. For the still-air control, two figures in the 1997 JEB paper present different sample sizes for the same control experiment. The raw data from that period are not available, leaving the correct value unresolved.

References

The 'still air' control in Fig. 3A and the control Fig. 3B show the results of the same control experiment but there is a discrepancy in the sample sizes. It is impossible, at this stage, to specify which sample size is the correct one (N=19 or N=35).
