Improving Adoption of New Visualization Software

Determine the barriers to and effective strategies for increasing the adoption of new visualization software within the visualization community, and rigorously evaluate interventions that can close this adoption gap among practitioners and researchers.

Background

Within the introduction, the authors emphasize that interaction capabilities are central to exploratory data analysis tools and that adoption of new visualization software remains challenging for the community. Despite advances in interaction and tooling, the successful uptake of new systems by end users is still not assured.

This open challenge is relevant across the survey’s scope because LLM-enabled interfaces may lower entry barriers but could also introduce new trust, reliability, and workflow-integration issues. Understanding and addressing adoption barriers is therefore essential to realize the potential of LLM-augmented visualization systems.
